thanks so much for the info on "Ubuntu" it worked like a charm, after everything else failed to read my un-bootable drive!!

I've copied everything i wanted/needed to retrieve.

I'm so glad i was procrastinating on going to a file recovery company... :boogie: and downloaded the ubuntu cd...

No problem! Glad that it was of help! It's been a while since I used Ubuntu but at the time even I was really, really happy when my stuff was saved :)

For all you know, had you taken your computer to the file recovery guys they may have also done the same thing :D
